Safety & Supervision

Ensuring the safety of our cadets is priority number one. Our highly-structured program utilizes a method similar to the Marine Corps’ Operational Risk Management matrix to determine safety and supervision needs. Before the summer sessions begin, our staff members renew their CPR/First Aid certifications and we hire an EMT trained staff member to be present at all training cycles.

From the moment they arrive, our cadets are supervised at all times by our professional staff. The usual ratio of student to staff is 6:1 – this ensures safety, but also allows us to give more individual attention to our cadets. Our cadets receive multiple briefings on safety for most training cycles. For example, before entering the land navigation course, our cadets are briefed on various insects, ticks, snakes, and poisonous plants that they may find in the woods. Every precaution is taken to ensure the safety of the participants of our program.
